12 Days of Christmas--Day 9!

Hi friends! Its day 9 already! The months leading up to Christmas always seem to go so fast don’t you think? And its definitely time to start thinking about holiday baking!

For my project today I wanted to share a fun little card that is 99% created from the Homemade Treats bundle. This is a bundle that I will designate as a ‘keeper set’ because I like to hang onto any sets that have to do with baking, food, treat giving etc. Its a genre we don’t see quite as often.

I started with a base of Real Red card stock and then added a panel of the Silent Snowfall specialty 12x12 paper—it has a cute little snowflake pattern embossed on it. I love this paper! Its such a great alternative to a panel of white where you do not plan to do any stamping.

Next I added a panel of polka dots from the Traditions of Christmas DSP and to bridge the two panels I cut a 1/2 x 3 3/4 piece of Garden Green card stock and added two strips of the new Garden Green & White Chevron Ribbon. Because this ribbon is so thin it was fun to add to strips of it for a bit of a different design element.

 

I love how you can see the little snowflakes printed on the Silent Snowfall paper—they are in perfect proportion to the other elements on this card as well.

The best part of this card was adding all of the little elements from the Homemade Treats bundle—the only thing that is added from the Gingerbread Man bundle are the Garden Green gumdrops.

I modified the sentiment to just say ‘Tis the Season’ and stamped it in Coastal Cabana. If you have been following along you can probably notice a color theme to my projects!

The rolling pin, little gingerbread men and mini candy canes are just so fun! And the icing piping bag full of icing is a cute touch to this eclectic mix of images.

I punched a couple banners from the Garden Green plain pattern from the Christmas Tags & More DSP stack and added this between the layers on my sentiment. A few red sequins from the Traditional Sparkling Sequins completed this card project.

I really love this project and already can think of a few friends that will enjoy getting it from me this holiday season.

12 Days of Christmas--Day 5!

So I have shared a scrapbook page and a tag so far in our 12 Days of Christmas series so today is a good day to share a cute card idea featuring the Gingerbread Man Bundle. I hope you have been enjoying what Melanie and I have been designing and sharing with you so far.

I decided use a base of Garden Green for my card and add a couple of strips of gingham DSP from the Christmas Tags & More 6x6 stacks.

These 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch strips were layered behind another panel of Garden Green card stock that is 2 2/4 x 4 1/4 inches wide. I ran this panel through the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder.

The gingerbread man is stamped with White Craft ink onto Pecan Pie card stock and then embossed with white embossing power to give that icing sugar illusion. Out of all of our browns I find that Pecan Pie is the closes to the color of actual gingerbread.

I relied on the dies from the Gingerbread Man die collection to make this card cute and fun. The handle of the lollipop is colored black using a dark black Stampin’ Blend and the little heart in the center is from the House Builder Punch (it was released last holiday season).

I was able to create candy canes facing each direction by just flipping the card stock over on the red candy cane and gluing things in reverse. I added a little bit of Red & White Bakers Twine tied into a bow over the Pretty in Pink candy cane.

The sentiment ‘Baking Spirits Bright’ is from the stamp set and was stamped twice. Once in Real Red and the other in Garden Green. I cut the sentiment apart using paper snips to add it in a different configuration. The gum drops are in Real Red and the wrapped candy in Coastal Cabana.

I love how fun and whimsical this card turned out and its a great way to feature the dies in a project.

Twelve Days of Christmas--Project #3

Hey Hey Hey! Welcome to my 3rd share of 12 Days of Christmas with Melanie and Brenda. We hope you have been enjoying our projects so far. Did you know at the end of this hop you will have 14 project ideas? Isn’t that amazing?

I have to admit, I am pretty obsessed with the Reindeer Fun Dies at the moment. In particular, the adorable, genius reindeer head that you can make.

I started with a base of Real Red and added a first layer of Basic White card stock. I then added a layer of DSP from the Reindeer Days collection. I used the largest die from the Stitched Dies in Basic White to be my base for my little reindeer.

The adorable reindeer is put together using Reindeer Fun Dies from the Holiday Catalogue. I used Pecan Pie for his face, Basic White for the behind layer and Early Espresso for the antlers. The wreath is in Garden Green to coordinate with the DSP.

The sentiment is from the Greetings of the Season stamp set which you can find in the online store!

12 Days of Christmas--Day 8!

Hi friends! So happy you are here and hop you have been following along each day so far!

My card for sharing today is super cute, if I don’t say so myself! It features the Sending Cheer Bundle and the Merry Bold & Bright DSP for a super fun cheery Holiday Card!

The base and first layer are Poppy Parade and then I added a square of the ‘Falalalala’ DSP and a torn strip of the star pattern from the Merry Bright & Bold collection. This is a fun way to create a bit of a peek a boo element and use some of our fabulous DSP #usethatstash!

The tag is cut from the Sending Cheer Dies in Coastal Cabana and I added a bit of the White Iridescent Ribbon (cut in half) through the tab. Its secured with a little bow of Linen Thread.

 

I found the best color for stamping the gingerbread man was Pecan Pie. I am so happy we have this awesome color!

The present is also stamped but the ribbon/bow is actually a die cut in Granny Apple Green card stock.

The sentiment is in Daffodil Delight and then just hand trimmed to fit the card. I few Iridescent Adhesive Backed Disks and this fun little card was complete!

12 Days of Christmas--Day 7!

Hello friends! And welcome back to Day 7 of 12 Days of Christmas with myself and Melanie @melsinkyfingers! Really, you are getting 24 awesome projects for inspiration!

Today I have something fun and on trend to share with you—some cards made with the Stack Cut & Shuffle technique! It is so fun and such a great way to use our amazing Designer Series Paper!

To create these cards using the Stack Cut & Shuffle technique you will need 3 standard card bases. I cut my bases to be the ‘tent’ style option of 4 1/4 x 11 (score at 5 1/5). I decided to keep my card bases all uniform, although you certainly could mix up the base colors.

You also need a base layer that is 4 x 5 1/4 —for all 3 of my cards, I used Basic White.

Your DSP layers are 3 3/4 x 5—-you can choose 3 different DSP’s and mix and match for endless possibilities.

The idea is you ‘stack’ your DSP, cut once and mix up the patterns, layering them down almost like putting a puzzle together! This particular method of Stack Cut & Shuffle is great because you can just start along the 3 3/4 inch side, angle your DSP outwards towards the right and cut.

TIP: Start with the 3 3/4 side rough along the 1 inch mark and angle the bottom right corner out. This piece stays as is.

The second piece, which is a bit larger, can be cut from the bottom left corner through the middle

I decided to cut the large tree from the Merriest Trees dies and stamp some little stars on top for two of the three cards.

The light bulb stamp is from the Merry & Bright bundle as are the little stars and the sentiment on each of the cards, ‘Oh, What Fun!’

I think these two bundles work so well together!

The fun, bright and cherry DSP is from Merry Bold & Bright.

For the third card option, I cut the large tree from Shaded Spruce and ran it through one of the 3D Basics Embossing Folders for a bit of texture.

Each one of the cards uses some ribbon behind the sentiment as well for a little extra touch.

TOP TIP: The Holographic Trio paper in the Annual Catalogue is perfect for making toppers for the light bulbs!

If you haven’t given this fun technique a try, you really should! It is easier than it looks and quite a bit of fun to mix and match up the DSP pieces to create some unique cards!
