Create with Connie and Mary--Home for the Holidays!

Hello and welcome to our weekly Saturday Blog Hop! This week we are sharing projects with the theme “Home for the Holidays” so naturally I thought of the Trimming the Town suite as it has stamp images to create a bunch of different homes!

Recently my team had a virtual meeting and we made a Cube Card together! Have you tried this fun fold style yet? I actually thought it would be complicated but its actually surprisingly easy!

This is my ‘Home for the Holidays’ themed Cube Card! I really enjoyed designing the panels and putting this project together.

To create a cube card you will need a piece of 12x12 card stock. I used Poppy Parade as my base because its coordinated with the Trimming the Town DSP.

On your trimmer cut down one side of the 12x12 to 11 1/2 inches. On this side (11 1/2) SCORE at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, 8 1/4 and 11.

Rotate the paper so your 12x12 length is across the top and CUT at 2 3/4, 2 3/4 and 5 1/2. Thus creating 3 strips of paper—-2 will be at 2 3/4 width and one at 5 1/2 width

.

You will notice that you have a 1/2 inch section and this will be where you will add your adhesive to fold your paper into cubes. You will have two cubes that are 2 3/4 wide and one that is 5 1/2. The largest one is the base.

You will attach each of the smaller cubes to the largest cube, ONLY adding adhesive to the bottom cube. If you glue the whole thing is will not pop up into the cube card shape.

Once you have the basic design mastered, decorating and embellishing is all up to you! I decided to mix up some of the panels with DSP and card stock that I ran through the Wrapped in Texture embossing folders from the Heartwarming Hugs suite.

I added in Merry Christmas and ‘Tis the Season from the Tag Buffet stamp set.

Stampin' For Christmas Blog Hop--Christmas Slider Card

Welcome to another Stampin’ For Christmas Blog Hop—the hop that runs all year long! I am really excited to share my project with you today as its a bit of an interactive project!

One of my team members recently shared with me how to make a ribbon slider card and I just love it! It they are way more simple than I would have imagined! In fact, its so fun that I am planning to share this design with two of my monthly card making groups this November.

Before I give you some quick measurements and directions on how to put this together I will share a bit about the design on the front. I am really loving the colour combo of Just Jade, Misty Moonlight and Petal Pink at the moment…even any variation of these colors look great together!

I started by stamping the left edge with a cluster of snowflakes from the Snowman Season stamp set! It is a returning favourite in our main catalogue from last holiday season. I also reached for the Perfectly Plaid stamp set too. Both of these stamp sets have coordinating punches which is awesome!

The background Whisper White is run through the new Winter Snow embossing folder and the ‘snow drift’ is cut using the Pinewood Dies. I ran my Wink of Stella pen just over the top of the snow drift to give it a little drizzle. The sentiment is from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set and is embossed with Whisper White Craft Ink and white embossing powder. I punched it out with the Timeless Label punch and gave it a little flick with the Misty Moonlight marker. The little banners underneath are actually cut from the Whale of a Time DSP.

A few of the Holiday Rhinestones and a teeny star give a little sophistication to these plaid trees.

To create a ribbon slider card:

1. Cut card stock base to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and score at 4 1/4 (like a standard card) and then along one edge at 1/2 (on the horizontal side). On the other side, CUT, 1/2 off. You should have created a little flap.

2. Fold card and MARK the center line of the short edge with a dot. Punch half a circle along the edge using the dot to keep centred. Now apply Tear’n Tape along the 1/4 score tab and seal to create a closed ‘pocket’. Keep the punched edge open.

3. Cut pocket inside card stock to 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 and insert this into the pocket. Mark the centre line of the punched edge with a dot and then with a Crop-a-dile or 1/4 hole punch make a hole (for the ribbon).

4. Pull out this inside piece and REVERSE it so that the holes line back up with you poke it in. This inside piece will barely be inserted in the pocket.

5. Cut and insert 18 inches of ribbon through the holes and tie a double knot at the end. This helps secure the ribbon before you tie it into a pretty bow! You can now slide this into the pocket and watch the magic happen. If you wanted to, you could also do some stamping on this piece before you add the ribbon.

6. Create a feature piece for the front of your card. My base layer is 4 1/4 by 3 1/4.

On Stage 2020--Team Gifts

Despite the fact that I can’t be celebrating and stamping’ in person with other demonstrators, I am still excited for our Virtual On Stage event taking place this weekend and was excited to make some fun gifts for my team that featured some brand new product being released!

If you haven’t already discovered this from previous blog posts, I LOVE these Mini Coffee Cups and Coffee Carrier. I mean, really, you an convert them into anything theme and fill them with so many fun things!

This new bundle is called Dandy Garden and includes a dragonfly punch, stamp set, designer paper, braided linen trim, and the cutest little ladybug trinkets!

I used the Warm Wraps dies to create a sleeve for the mini coffee cup using the new designer paper and Misty Moonlight DSP.

I filled the mini coffee cup with a Starbucks Instant Latte and added a sentiment from the stamp set to the top.

Everyone received a set of blends that coordinated with the designer series paper.

And the Rectangular Tins are the perfect size to hold some Merci Chocolates!

I stamped one of the images from the stamp set on some Bumblebee card stock and rounded the edges to match the shape of the tin. I stamped the sentiment on some of the DSP and cut with a Stitched Circle. A little metallic thread and some Misty Moonlight ribbon and they were complete!

The dragonfly punch is designed to punch out two sizes of dragonfly’s. Isn’t this little one so cute? It is punched from Mossy Meadow card stock.

Merry 'Slimline' Wishes

Hello friends! Have you seen the new card trend that is circulating around? This design style is called “slimline’ and there are several size and dimension variations. I designed this ‘slimline’ card to showcase the In the Pines Bundle from the Handmade for You catalogue.

I absolutely LOVE the color palette on this card. It isn’t what you would call traditional in the holiday color scheme sense, but I love the soft colors and the idea of the trees transitioning from fall into winter colors.

I started with Calypso Coral, then Pumpkin Pie and moved into the blue green family of colors with Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and finally Just Jade which is also the base color of this card.

I stamped the outline of each tree in full strength ink and the ‘filler’ of the tree I stamped ‘off’ on my scratch pad so the ink was a tone lighter.

I wanted a snow drift so I used the curved snow drift die from the Pine Wood Dies and added some embossing paste on top to give it some texture and to help it mimic snow. I actually know a lot about snow because where I live, we have snow for at least 5 months of the year! Haha! Unofficial expert over here!

The base of my card is 7 x 8 1/2 and on the 7 inch side you are going to score at 3 1/2. There are several size variations to this card style so there is lots of room to play around and have fun. The Whisper White layer is 2 3/4 x 7 3/4 .

Naturally a card of this size needs a custom envelop too! I stamped the trees on the left corner and did a little marker spritzing. And on the inside flap, I added a piece of silver foil paper to play off of the silver Merry on the front of the card.

The create both this card and envelop you will need a full sheet of card stock to start. So just keep that in mind if you are planning to offer the slimline card as a class.

To create the envelop score your 8 1/2 x 11 on the 8 1/2 (vertical side) at 2 1/2 and 6 1/2. Rotate and on the long (horizontal) side score at 1 1/2 and 10 1/2. Now you want to trim away the 4 little side pieces as shown in the photo below. I then rounded the panels at the top and bottom using the Detailed Trio punch. It can round your edges, punch out a little flower detail as shown and small oval hole perfect to turn your project into a tag!

I cut the word ‘Merry’ using the Playful Alphabet dies with Silver Foil paper and the Foam Adhesive Sheets. ‘Wishes’ is cut from Calypso Coral card stock using the Well Written dies. I added on some fun bling using the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the Champagne Rhinestones. And a little strip of the In Color 6x6 Designer Paper on the left edge helps ground the card and the wood grain pattern plays off of the trees.

Create with Connie and Mary--Thinking of Christmas!

I will admit it, I have been thinking of Christmas! It is actually not that far away and I find this is the busiest time of year with other holidays along the way and one of my kids celebrating a birthday. Plus we have On Stage to look forward to as well.

The theme this week is “Thinking of Christmas” and I created this pretty traditional card to reflect the holiday.

I really love mixing and matching products as shown in this card here. I featured the Gift Wrapped Bundle with accents from the Snowflake Splendor Suite and the Everything Essential Bundle.

I started with a base of Cherry Cobbler and ran a layered piece of card stock through the Winter Snow Embossing Folder for a subtle winter feel. I used the Essential Tag punch with some retired DSP (there I said, it, I have it and I still use it when it works) to create a base for the gift bow. I stamped the bow and embossed it with gold embossing powder. I love Gift Bow Builder punch! I added in bit of Shaded Spruce Ribbon (also retired) with some of the gold thread included in the Tag Buffet kit (waste not, want not!).

A Very Merry Christmas is stamped in Shaded Spruce card stock in the same ink. I added in another gold detail by cutting some of our Gold Foil paper with the scallop die from the Peony Dies.

This card design has such great potential. I will definitely be using it again and will just mix up some of the elements.
