Congrats! You Did It!

Two of nieces are graduating high school this year and as we all know, the ceremonies and celebrations have been cancelled or postponed. However, they have worked so hard towards this amazing milestone that I still wanted to create a card for them to recognize their achievements. When we are able to gather again (we have a BIG family) we will have a proper family celebration.

I used three stamp sets to create this card! One is brand new and will be available in the new catalogue. The sentiment ‘So Proud of You’ is from the set A Grand Kid. Its a fabulous set! Don’t over look it because of the name! I also used the stamp set Witty-Cisms (if you have been following along on my card challenge you know this stamp set was on my desk from yesterday) for the grad cap and ‘You did It’. The ‘Congrats’ which is embossed in Whisper White on Pretty Peacock is hand cut and is from the stamp set Seriously the Best. The latter two are both retiring but I think they are going to stay in my collection!

The stitched circles I actually had laying around from another project which is how I decided on the color palette! I used a baby wipe dabbed on a Coastal Cabana ink pad to lightly swipe the background and then flicked my Pretty Peacock marker over …

‘You Did It’ is cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I am so happy they will be in the new catalogue! The little grad cap is coloured with the dark Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blend and the light Basic Black Stampin’ Blend.

Taco Bout' Awesome

Witty-Cisms is definitely a stamp set that I wish I would have used more over the past few months! For my “Card a Day in May” challenge, Day #11, I wanted to use a stamp set that I really liked but didn’t give the attention to. The taco and the cactus are my favourite images in this set.

The base of the card is Basic Grey and I added a layer of Smokey Slate card stock that I ran through a brand new embossing folder called Tasteful Textile 3D. It will be available in the new annual catalogue.

I coloured the taco with Stampin’ Blends in Mango Melody and Granny Apple Green. The hearts are stamped in Granny Apple Green from the Meant to Be stamp set. I used the Follow Your Art DSP for the stitched circle and Calypso Coral strip. I wanted to play around with patterns so added in a strip of designer paper from the Peaceful Poppies collection.

The cute little felt heart is from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit!

It was easy to create another version of this card by swapping out the sentiment with one of the other great options in the Witty-Cisms stamp set. I love this cute cactus and he was easily coloured in with the Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends!

Celebrate Sunshine

Okay, here is my first official sneak peek card of some new fantastic products coming out in the Idea Book & Catalogue on June 3rd! I absolutely LOVE this Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle. It is a stamp set with coordinating dies that is just so fabulous! This might be my favourite card yet for my “A Card a Day In May” challenge, card # 10.

Let’s talk what is NEW on this card! The stamp set of course, both the image and phrase are from the same set, Celebrate Sunflowers. I used a piece of Designer Series Paper from the In Good Taste collection which features 24 sheets of photographic DSP. You will fall in love. I added in some Faux Suede Trim in Early Espresso. It does in fact have a suede feel to it! The wooden elements are also new and are called the In Good Taste Elements. The Old Olive leaf sprigs are cut from the Sunflowers Dies.

I coloured the large sunflower from the stamp set with my Stampin’ Blends. I used So Saffron, Mango Melody, Soft Suede and Bronze. I think Bronze is the secret weapon here. It looks really great blended with yellow. The sentiment is cut using the Label Me Fancy punch currently available and carrying over into the new catalogue.

I cut the white layering edge with a die from the Ornate Layers Dies to give it a bit of interest.

I love everything about this card and I hope you can take the design layout of this card and create something with stamps and supplies that you have on hand.

I think these colors just look dreamy together! I can see a lot of colouring in my future with this stamp set and color combination!

I hope you love this card as much as I do and are willing to invest in this bundle!

Joy of Sets Blog Hop--May Flowers

The Joy of Sets Blog Hop for May is on flowers of course! I think this month is synonymous with flowers, spring and soft colors. I chose to use a stamp set that is retiring, but that I will be keeping in my collection. It is called Here’s to Strong Women and the “You’ve Got This Girl” is really perfect with Mother’s Day coming up. I know several moms that could use a card with this sentiment. Everyone needs to know from time to time that they have ‘got this’!

I hope you enjoyed what the pioneer of this Blog Hop, Fiona Whitehead, shared with you this morning!

The base of this card is Petal Pink and the layering piece is ran through the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. The strip of Designer Series Paper is from the Best Dressed collection. The flowers are stamped from the Dressed to Impress stamp set (found in the Occasions Catalogue). The leaves are coloured with the Old Olive Blends but the flowers are filled in with the coordinating stamps in the set in Highland Heather and Lovely Lipstick. I also went over them with Wink of Stella.

You’ve Got This Girl is stamped in Pretty Peacock and die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I flicked the Wink of Stella over top of this panel as well. I also used the coordinating All Dressed Up Dies to die cut the flowers. And finally, the sequins are from the Iridescent Sequins collection.

Thinking of You! Create with Connie and Mary

This weeks Create with Connie & Mary Blog Hop is a focus on a ‘neglected product’. I thought about this quite a bit and settled on two things that I used on this card—a spritzer filled with reinker and rubbing alcohol and the Rooted in Nature stamp set and Nature’s Roots dies.

For this card I wanted a subtle background so I ran the Whisper White layer through the Coastal Weave 3D folder. I mixed 12 drops of Soft Seafood reinker with rubbing alcohol in my spritzer and then spritzed the right hand side of the card (under neath where I was planning to have my sentiment). I also flicked the area with my Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write marker. The mist of green gave a soft subtle effect

You can see the soft feel of the spritzed and flicked ink in this photo. I love it!

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and embossed in sliver and cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. The little button is from the Arts & Crafts die collection.

I stamped the leaves in Soft Seafoam and Coastal Cabana on their coordinating card stock and then used the Nature’s Roots dies to cut them out. I had to add my favourite thing of all time, Metallic Thread, to this project as well. It definitely has NOT been a neglected item in my craft room! A few Rhinestones and I thought this card was complete :)

On your next stop on the Hop you are going to visit Connie! I can’t wait to see what her ‘neglected’ stamp item is!
