Parisian Blossoms for the Win!

Back in November I shared how I had been asked to present at On Stage (in Edmonton) the Parisian Blossoms suite! It was such a great experience, however, because I was so immersed in creating content for that event I was, I dare to say, a little over the Parisian Blossoms suite. Well I am back on it! Hahahaha! Have you ever felt that way before?

Luckily for me, my monthly scrapbook group requested that I create a layout for them using that suite, so I used a couple pages I had already designed as a springboard to create these pages. I used as many elements as possible from the suite on these pages and let the Parisian Blossoms DSP dictate the color pallet.

I have never been to Paris, but I liked using the Eiffel Tower as think it does represent doing something magnificent like the sentiment suggests! I added in some white flowers to keep a light tone on tone feel to the pages. I like to add texture to a scrapbook page that way.

If you look to the left side of the layout you can also see how I used the Label Me Fancy punch in a bit of a different way. I always like to incorporate a different way to visualize using a punch to my customers. Sometimes it might seem simple to us as creators to but to them its like a lightbulb moment!

I think my favourite thing on this page though are the panels of white card stock that I ran through the Parisian Flourish 3D folder. It is just the perfect folder! It has so much depth and detail after you run it though the Big Shot!

A little Tropical Fun!

I recently hosted a team event where we had a Tropical Theme. I do love a good theme and with the Tropical Oasis Suite (which by the way, I will never ever get rid of it, the pineapple frame lit can’t be beat!) it was easy to come up with these 3 amazing cards!

I started by using the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes (pg 171 of the Idea Book and Catalogue). The silver edge of the card added a nice detail and an anchor for designing the cards.

The first card featuring the awesome pineapple die also ties in the Seriously The Best stamp set (pg 60 of the Occasions Catty). I isolated the word Hello and fussy cut it out using Pretty Peacock. I added in some Sale-a-bration items—can you spot them?

The flower card in the center was stamped in Whisper White Kraft ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I coloured it using, the Mango Melody pigment sprinkles! You simply tap some onto a block, give it a light spritz of water and use an Aqua Painter to color it in. I should note that it is also stamped on Shimmery White card stock to hold the water. You should give this colouring technique a try!

The final card I used Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock and the foam brayers to create the background. The small flower is stamped with the Saddle Brown Stazon Ink and coloured with the Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends. And the palm trees are coloured with good ole regular Stampin’ Write markers!

You are Simply Wonderful

One of the team building things my team does each month is choose a card from the Idea Book and Catalogue and case it. Sometimes I make small modifications such as the sentiment. The original card used for this Case had the sentiment ‘Forever Starts Today’ but it doesn’t really apply to my life stage right now so I thought I would swap it out for ‘You are Simply Wonderful’, which can be sent to anyone for pretty much any reason. I did use the Stampin’ Supply guide (published on the demo page under the Printing Place) to see exactly how they achieved the soft coloured feel. I loved how the flowers were stamped with Sahara Sand and then coloured with water colored pencils, but the surprise was the adding Pretty Peacock ink and a blender pen on the tips of the blue flowers!

I know everyone will be happy to get this card as I love receiving what they have created for me!

Hello Friend!

A recently hosted a get together of a group of girl friends who had formed one of my first scrapbooking groups back about 12-13 years ago. One of the girls had moved away and was back in Edmonton for a night so I gathered everyone together to make this awesome scrapbook page. I want to give some credit to Angela Meiritz-Reid who had shared a card on Instagram that featured this color palette. I love it immediately as it was not a combo I would have put together myself. I used this color combo as the creating start to making this page. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. I combined the Be Mine Stitched Framelits, Poppy Moments and Painted Labels Dies along with the Thanks for the Laughs and Seriously the Best stamp sets plus a few select embellishments to create this page. I love the crispness of the white with the softness of the Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight and the contrast of the Call Me Clover. The Honeybee DSP added in a nice metallic touch.

I love this page so much that I have created another project with this same elements. I will be sharing it on my blog next week so stayed tuned!

If you look close you can see that the base of the poppies was run through the Subtles embossing folder (found in the main catalogue). This is a great way to add texture and interest when using tone on tone to create these flowers. I used the Frosted Flowers embellishments, Metallic Pearls, Perennial Essence Floral Centers, and the Petal Pink 1/4 Metallic-Edge Ribbon to add detail. I have been heard to say, “It’s all the details” and this page is a great example of that. I hope you are inspired!

Joy of Sets February Blog Hop--Sprinkle Hearts

fullsizeoutput_10cf0.jpeg

The theme for this month’s Blog Hop is love and hearts! Those two criteria inspired me to make this Valentine’s Day layout featuring my favourite item of the moment, Pigment Sprinkles. I have really been focused with sharing this great product at my groups over the month of January. I was finding two things-my loyal stampers needed an introduction to something NEW and many people were intimidated by how to use the Pigment Sprinkles. They are, my friends, so easy! The first tip I have is to let go of trying to control them! They will work magic for you with just a little water and either water-colour paper or Shimmery White Cardstock as your base. In my case I used Shimmery White to add to the overall finish of the hearts. I have played around with spritzing water first and adding the sprinkles or adding sprinkles and then water and I find I have a better end result by adding sprinkles and then the water. You will also get a different look with using a heat tool (which is what I did in my class settings) versus allowing the product to air dry (who has time for that! hahaha).

You can see here that you only need three ingredients to create something awesome! After you spritz the sprinkles with water, let them sit for a few seconds as they absorb and spread. The last photo shows the difference of letting the sprinkles sit. I then took my heat tool and blasted the paper until it was dry.

I tried to keep the rest of the elements on my scrapbook page minimal to really draw the attention to the sprinkle hearts. They were easy to punch out using the heart punch pack from page 10 of the Occasions Mini. The Happy Valentine’s Day stamp is from the Heartfelt stamp set (pg 10). LOVE is embossed in gold from the Well Said stamp set (found in the main catalogue) and the From My Heart Faceted Gems added the perfect finishing touch!

I hope this page has inspired you to try playing around with the Pigment Sprinkles. You can find them on pg 179 of the main catalogue in a group of six awesome colors. My page features the Mango Melody pigment sprinkles which is actually a great blend of pinks with a tinge of coral and orange!
