A Card a Day in December--Day #30

The end of 2020 is so near we can almost start celebrating! So of course I had to design a page layout to capture our celebrations tomorrow as we say Hello to 2021! I think this page is simple and sophisticated and won’t take you long to assemble. You can substitute any stamps that you have too as you will see that I combined retired, current and BRAND NEW stamps all on this layout with a mixture of fonts and design styles.

I designed this page on Very Vanilla 12x12 because I new that I wanted to use gold accents and Very Vanilla has a warmer tone to it. I used a photo mat of Basic Black to accommodate a future 5 x 7 photo. I can anticipate my family taking a selfie so this photo orientation supports that better.

The sentiment ‘Cheers…’ is from a retired set called Cheers to That. It is a set that I will keep in my collection as I do find that sets to do with New Years do not come around very often. It is stamped in Versamark with gold embossing powder on Very Vanilla. Behind the sentiment I added some retired black twine and some new gold hued ribbon called Fine Art Ribbon. And of course I had to add the Matte Black Dots from the Love You Always suite—love! A few glittery stars and this little section is perfect.

I wanted to use a Gold Hoop as well on my page to highlight the word Hooray. I used my Stampin’ Write Basic Black marker to highlight the word Hooray from the rest of the stamp as it is a part of a phrase. This stamp is from the You Are Amazing stamp set which is the stamp set designed to complete the You Are Amazing Project Kit.

final 2.jpg

I added a gold leaf behind the hoop which is cut from Gold Foil paper and the Forever Flourishing Dies. 2021 is cut from black glitter paper using the Playful Alphabet dies and Foam Adhesive Sheets. I really like this little vignette!

Let’s Celebrate is from the Bloom & Grow stamp set in the annual catalogue. It is also modified from its original form and is embossed with gold embossing powder and cut using the largest circle from the Circle Dies. I added a little gold metallic thread behind and a couple die cut starts from the Stitched Stars dies. Gilded Gems were the perfect accent here!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Years however you are celebrating and can capture a memory together!

A Card a Day in December--Day #26

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday and is enjoying all of their new gifts that Santa brought! Today I want to share a winter scrapbook page with you. I know NOT A CARD, but I figured we will all have winter photos that we want to save so hopefully this page provides you with some inspiration!

This double page layout is on a base of Pool Party 12x12 and is accentuated with colors found in the Snowflake Splendour Suite. I LOVE this designer series paper and how many different tones of blue and purple there are to work with.

I added two different 3 x 12 strips of the DSP to each page to bring in some of these colors so that I could in embellishments in a variety of colors.

I used the So Many Snowflake, Peony and Beautiful Bows dies on these two pages.

Winter and Wishes are cut using the Playful Alphabet dies with the Foam Adhesive sheets and the Well Written dies.

Winter and Wishes are cut using the Playful Alphabet dies with the Foam Adhesive sheets and the Well Written dies.

“In the Coldest Moments…” is stamped in Pacific Point ink on Whisper White and is punched with a 2 1/2 circle punch. The Stitched Circles were perfect to cut a layering piece out of another selection of DSP. In between I added some In Color ribbon and Playing with Patterns ribbon.

Adding some Highland Heather snowflakes along with boughs cut in Whisper White were perfect.

You will notice there are a bunch of snowflakes stamped in the backround.

Here is fun tip: Place all of your desired stamps onto one of our larger blocks. I used the E block for this. Then you can stamp a bunch of images at one time and slightly rotate the block each time so they look different.

The second page of my layout has many of the same elements but in a vertical presentation instead. Not only does this allow for a photo going in a different direction (consider that most selfies are this orientation) it allows for a different look while feeling unified.

The sentiment on this page is from the Snowman Season stamp set. A returning favorite from last holiday! It is cut with a Stitched Circle and the DSP behind it is cut with a punch. A reversal from what you found on the other page.

Once again I added in Highland Heather snowflakes and a border with the Peony die in Misty Moonlight.

Both pages have some Blue Backed Gems and Rhinestones. The sentiment on this page also has some Pool Party Sheer ribbon behind it to mimic the other page.

I really love how these two pages turned out. I hope you will try your hand at some memory keeping if it is not something you already do! If you live in Canada please feel free to SHOP by online store direct to Stampin’ Up! Thank you in advance!

A Card a Day in December-Day #22

Today I wanted to share a fabulous scrapbook page that I created based on the card I shared yesterday! Did you miss it? It is ok, you can go back to get the specific details but I did include a picture of it with today’s share too—-22 projects so far!

final (10).jpg

I used the Hostess stamp set, A Merry Hello, from the Handmade for You catalogue to create this fun and whimsical scrapbook page. I love this color combo—Just Jade, Poppy Parade and Flirty Flamingo. It has your traditional red and green feel but in a brighter more modern version! And the pop of pink on Whisper White just helps it feel fresh!

I started with a 12x12 base of Just Jade and layered it with Whisper White. I chose to feature one photo on a mat of Poppy Parade. I pulled in designer series papers from the Tis’ the Season and In Color 6x6 paper stacks.

I love this section of the page with all of the stockings. They are colored with Stampin’ Blends in Just Jade, Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade. The area is accented with glittery gold stars and the sentiment Heartfelt Christmas is embossed in gold.

The flirty flamingo circle was run through the Wrapped in Texture Embossing folder.

Here is a photo that has the card that inspired this scrapbook page! I do this a lot my friends, I make a card and love it and think, I can turn that into a scrapbook page OR I make a page and think this can be a great card! This is a great strategy to help you get started in creating and designing your own scrapbook pages.

Thank you for checking this out today!

Around the World On Wednesday--Something Old and Something New

This month’s theme is something old and something new…so I combined some brand new upcoming products with a bundle that is soon to be retired and my favourite item of all time—retired Gold Metallic Thread!

I was also in the mood to make a scrapbook page as I have been really focused on cards lately so this felt good! Sometimes, if my creativity feels hindered I really just let myself create what it wants, without worrying about the outcome.

I wanted to make a page that felt really clean, crisp and fresh. I started with a 12x12 Whisper White base and I resisted the urge to stamp on the background.

I knew I wanted to use a series of photos I snapped on my daughter’s recent 12th birthday (the last one on the left is my personal favourite!).

And because this was a birthday page, i knew the Gift Wrapped Bundle would be perfect. I love how this stamp set has 5 different bows in it! So much versatility!

final (11).jpg

Have you noticed what is new? The florals, stem, and ‘You are Lovely’ are all from a new upcoming stamp set called Art Gallery. I has coordinating dies called the Floral Gallery Dies. The color palette I chose for this page speaks straight to the colors featured in the Fine Art Floral Designer Series paper. During On Stage it was shared that these images were painted on giant canvases they used to create the DSP! love fun facts like this about our products.

I stamped the flowers, which are the two-step stamp design in the following color combos—Bumbleebee and Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo with Poppy Parade, and Coastal Cabana with Pretty Peacock. I did add a bit of Wink of Stella on top to add a bit of glitz and gold sparkle.

The large bows are stamped on Flirty Flamingo card stock in Poppy Parade ink and then punched out with the Gift Bow Builder Punch. So easy and fun!

I cut Summer’s name from Gold Foil paper and the Foam adhesive sheets. I continued the gold theme by adding in the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and the Gold Metallic Thread.

The sentiment on the left side of the page is from the Gift Wrapped stamp set and is cut with a stitched circle. The mini bow is stamped on Flirty Flamingo card stock with Poppy Parade ink. I did have to hand cut this little bow out.

Behind the sentiment I layered a flower, this time stamped in Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock. I also added a circle punched from the Fine Art Floral DSP. A bit of metallic thread and Gold Glitter Enamel Dots finished off this little montage just perfectly.

I hope you enjoy hopping all around the globe with everyone this month! We have 21 people participating in the hop which is so fantastic!

Make sure to leave a comment, I love to read them!

Next up is Tricia Butts from the United States.

Create with Connie and Mary-Christmas Flowers!

Welcome back to another great week of blog hopping with the Create with Connie and Mary crew! This week we are featuring Christmas Flowers, which is pretty much synonymous with poinsettia’s, don’t you think? Luckily for us Stampin’ Up! crafters we have the amazing Poinsettia Place suite to use!

I knew immediately that I had to create something with this fantastic suite as it has everything. Two amazing designer papers, Beaded Pearls and Red Sheer ribbon plus the most amazing die set that cuts and embosses! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

fullsizeoutput_137c8.jpeg

To create this page I started with a 12x12 base of Old Olive. I added a strip of the designer paper along the side and photo mat of Very Vanilla. I will admit, its been a while since I pulled that neutral out. I typically head straight for Whisper White but this particular pattern in the DSP had vanilla flowers so I went with it!

I stamped two different poinsettia sizes on the background of my page in Old Olive Ink.

I knew I wanted to create a large poinsettia flower with the dies and Very Vanilla card stock. I decided to flick my Wink of Stella pen over top for a little extra shimmer before I added the Beaded Pearl to the center. I love how it turned out.

The DSP strip actually has three different shades of green, Old Olive, Shaded Spruce and Pear Pizzaz which gave me a few options for adding in other colors.

Look at the amazing detail you get from these dies. I love that you can cut and add in the embossed detail at the SAME TIME. Or you can simply cut out the shape.

And the Beaded Pearls, so great in person!

I wanted to play off of the gold accents in this suite so I stamped the sentiment, Happy Holidays, in gold ink and embossed with gold embossing powder. I added in the little sprig from the die set by cutting it from Gold Foil paper.

I decided to add in a phrase from another stamp set, Warm Hugs, as it was a great size to punch with a circle punch and layer with a bit of Soft Suede. The leaves beside it are stamped on Pear Pizzaz card stock in Old Olive ink.

I added a few mini poinsettia flowers up at top of the page to carry that Very Vanilla color across the page.

For me this page came together in a snap and I think you could reproduce it with any type of flower that you have in your collection. I hope you are inspired and if you live in Canada you can shop with me by using my Hostess Code (found on my side bar) or by visiting my online store!
